McGowin named to Golden Spikes Award Watch List

DURHAM, N.C.- Savannah State junior right-handed pitcher Kyle McGowin has been named to the Golden Spikes Award Watch List by Baseball USA.
 
McGowin is 10-0 with a 1.53 earned run average as the Tigers head into this weekend's series with Bethune-Cookman. The business management major has pitched 88.1 innings this season and leads the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) with 103 strikeouts.
 
A native of Sag Harbor, New York, McGowin has been named MEAC Pitcher of the Week three times this season and last month was named to the College Baseball Hall of Fame Pitcher of the year Watch List.
 
The Golden Spikes Award is given annually to the nation's top collegiate player. The watch list currently contains 60 players, which will be trimmed to 30 semifinalists on May 28. Three finalists will be announced June 4 with the winner selected and presented on July 19.
