STATESBORO, Ga. – The Savannah State women's tennis team fell, 1-6, to Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia Saturday afternoon.

Tiffany Williams garnered the Lady Tigers only win in the singles courts by defeated GSU's Morgan Springer 6-2 and 6-1, playing in the sixth position.
In the first court, junior
Sandra Kristjansdottir fell in straight sets, 0-6 and 0-6 to Paola Garrido. Playing in the second court,
Andrea Pavlovic fell to Jordana Klein 0-6 and 0-6.
Esmira Gheisary fell to Stephanie Woods, 1-6 and 0-6, in the third court. Sophomore
Nicole Ashiedu dropped the fourth court to M. Phillips Smith 1-6 and 0-6. SSU senior
Davita Washington fell to Natalie Maffett in the fifth court, 0-6 and 0-6.
In doubles action, the team of Kristjansdottir and Ashiedu fell to Paola and Woods in the first court, 2-8.
The Savannah State team of Pavlovic and Gheisary fell to Maffett and Klein, 1-8, in the second position. Washington and Williams fell, 5-8, to Smith and Springer to round out doubles play.
The Lady Tigers fall to 2-8 overall in the 2013 season. SSU is 0-5 in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play. They return to the courts on March 11 against George Mason University in Hilton Head, South Carolina. First serve is set for 12 p.m.
