SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State women's tennis team squeezed in a match with Delaware State between several thunderstorms that ripped through the Savannah area on Saturday.
The Lady Tigers fell 0-6 in a singles only match. The teams canceled doubles competition in anticipation of inclement weather.
Playing professional style sets, junior
Sandra Kristjansdottir fell to Delaware State's Maja Banas 4-8 in the first position. In the second court,
Andrea Pavlovic lost to Kristina Aleksic, 3-8.
SSU senior
Esmira Gheisary was blanked by Vanja Andonova 0-8 in the third court. Playing in the fourth court,
Nicole Ashiedu fell to Ksenia Kozlova, 1-8.
Davita Washington dropped the fourth court to Marina Sicic 3-8 in the fifth position. In the sixth court,
Tiffany Williams fell to Brittany Marshall 0-8.
The Lady Tigers fall to 2-16 on the year and are 0-5 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC).
Savannah State has two games remaining in the regular season. They will travel to Hilton Head, South Carolina on March 28 for a match with Siena College.
SSU's final home game and senior day will be on April 2 against Bethune-Cookman. First serve is set for 2 p.m., with senior day ceremonies preceding the match.
