THE GAMES:
Savannah State opened the 2013-14 season with back-to-back wins. They beat Columbia College 88-41 and ended a five year losing streak to Charleston Southern with a 75-47 win; both on home court.
Thursday's match opens the road schedule for SSU and a 10-game road stretch. This is the first time SSU has played Baylor University.
The Lady Tigers will play in the Athletics In Action Classic for the first time. The tournament, hosted by Baylor, will see SSU play Texas At San Antonio and Northwestern State, both for the first time in their history.
Senior point guard Ezinne Kalu leads the Lady Tigers with 30 points, averaging 15.0 per outing. Close behind are newcomers Kenyata Hendrix (29-14.5/g) and Bria Dorsey (18-9/g). Freshman Tiyonda Davis leads the defensive effort with 10 rebounds, averaging 5.0 per game. Dorsey has 9 boards this year, averaging 4.5 per game.
