Lady Tigers Fall to Missouri

MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Savannah State volleyball team concluded the annual Morehead State Eagle Challenge in Morehead, Kentucky Saturday, falling to the University of Missouri, 0-3, in their third and final game of the tournament.

In the opening set, SSU freshman Jasmine Waite knocked down a kill with the set coming from Ashlee Butler to knot the score up at four.

Waite was named All-Tournament leading the Lady Tigers in the final match with seven kills. Waite also led the team in overall kills for the tournament with 12. Bryana Gadis leads the team overall for the season with 46 kills, followed shortly by Waite with 42.

Later in the first set, Mizzou took the lead over SSU on an 8-1 run midway through for a 14-6 lead. Five costly errors in the set gave Missouri enough momentum for a 25-13 win.

Savannah State struggled in the second set as Missouri held the Lady Tigers to only six points. Mizzou took a 2-0 lead with a 25-6 game win.
The Lady Tigers managed more offense in the third set, racking up five kills in an 11-25 loss.

Savannah State will play in the Georgia Southern Tournament on September 14, against Wisconsin and Jacksonville University. They continue in the tournament on September 15 against South Alabama, and Georgia Southern.
