ATLANTA, Ga. – Savannah State women's volleyball dropped a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference road match to Clark Atlanta in straight sets Thursday evening inside L.S. Epps Gymnasium.
The Lady Tigers fell by scores of 25-19, 25-16 and 25-20. The setback dropped Savannah State to 2-11 overall and 1-5 in SIAC play, while Clark Atlanta improved to 10-2 overall and 5-1 in conference action.
Savannah State finished the night with 30 kills, 28 assists, 38 digs, four service aces and six total blocks.
Faith Woods paced the Lady Tigers' offense with a team-high 10 kills on 25 attacks.
Anaya Yates added four kills while hitting .300, while
Harmony Flagg also contributed four kills.
Setter
Amiyah Walker turned in an all-around performance with 23 assists, seven digs, three kills and two service aces.
Mya McCall also served two aces and added five digs.
Defensively,
Kira Raby led Savannah State with a match-high 14 digs. The Lady Tigers also totaled 12 block assists, led by
Makendra Cassell with three.
Clark Atlanta hit .303 for the match, finishing with 43 kills against 13 errors on 99 attacks. The Panthers were led offensively by Sawyer Arbuckle, who recorded 13 kills while hitting .440. Kai Harris added 12 kills.
Savannah State battled Clark Atlanta throughout the opening set before the Panthers pulled away for a 25-19 victory. The hosts followed with a 25-16 win in the second set to take a 2-0 advantage.
The Lady Tigers produced their highest offensive output of the night in the third set with 12 kills, but Clark Atlanta held off Savannah State for a 25-20 victory to complete the sweep.
