Bulls Complete Sweep of SSU

TAMPA, Fla.- Savannah State scored three times in the seventh but their rally fell short in a 5-3 loss to South Florida at the USF Baseball Stadium.

USF (7-4) scored once in the first then added single runs in the third and fourth innings for a 3-0 lead. The Bulls sent two runners across the plate in the fifth to increase their lead to 5-0.

After a scoreless six, SSU woke up in the seventh scoring three runs on one hit.

Julius Green was hit by a pitch, Todd Hagen singled and Joseph McCrary reached on a fielder's choice and advanced to second on a throwing error which allowed Green and Hagen to score. Jason Wynn pinch ran for McCrary and later scored on an error by the catcher.

SSU stranded base runners in the eighth and ninth but could not score.

Matt Oglesby had a double for the Tigers (3-8). Rexford Davis suffered the loss, giving up three runs in 3.1 innings.
