PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The Savannah State women's tennis squad downed the University of Maryland Eastern Shore 7-0 Saturday in Princess Anne, Maryland. Earlier in the day, the Lady Tigers fell to Delaware State University 0-7 in Dover, Delaware. The Lady Tigers are 2-12 overall.
In singles action,
Sandra Kristjansdottir downed Solana McMillan 8-2 in the number one spot. Esmira Gheisery beat Shamara McKensie 8-0 in the second spot. Playing on the third court,
Nicole Ashiedu beat Enjoli Simmons 8-0, while
Chandel McDonie beat Anna Kalenta 8-0 in the fourth spot.
Ge'Anne Hilton beat Raveena Sharma 8-0 in the fifth spot.
Davita Washington won by default in the sixth spot.
In doubles action, the Lady Tiger team of Kristjansdottir and Ashiedu beat McMillan and McKenzie in the one position, 8-2. The team of Gheisary and McDonie beat Simmons and Shacma 8-0 in the second court. Washington and
Shannon Howard won by default.
In the first game of the day, Kristjansdottir dropped the number one spot to Ksenia Kozlova in two sets, 6-2 and 6-0. Gheisary fell to Kristina Aleksic in two sets, 6-2 and 6-1. Ashiedu fell to Vania Andonova 6-2 and 6-2.
McDonie, playing pro sets, fell 8-1 to Marina Sicic. Hilton dropped her singles match in the fifth court to Cristina Andrade 8-0. Washington fell to Maja Banas 8-1 in the six spot.
In doubles action, the team of Kristjansdottir and Ashiedu fell 8-3 to the Lady Hornet team of Banas and Kozlova. Ghesiery and McDonie fell to Alexisic and Sicic 8-1 in the second spot. Washington and Hilton dropped the third court to Andrade and Andonova 8-0.
The Lady Tigers continue the extended road trip with their last regular season road games against Coppin State Monday, April 2 in Baltimore, Md. The team will play Norfolk State in Norfolk, Virginia Monday as well in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference match-up.
