SAVANNAH, Ga.-
Arnold Louis came off the bench to score a game-high 16 points to lead Savannah State to a 60-47 win over North Carolina Central before a crowd of 2,025 in Tiger Arena.
The Tigers, who have won 11 straight, shot 54.5 percent from the floor for the game.
Neither team made a field goal the last five minutes of the contest.
NCCU's last field goal came with 5:46 left while Cedic Smith's layup with 5:19 remaining was Savannah State's final field goal.
SSU led by five in the early going but the Eagles came back to take a 10-9 lead.
The Tigers led 16-12 but a 3-pointer by Nick Chasten cut the Tigers lead to 16-15 with 12:21 on the clock.
That led to SSU going on a 12-2 run to expand their lead to 28-17 with 5:51 left bnefore halftime.
NCCU got as close as nine but 3-pointers by Louis and
Deric Rudolph pushed SSU's lead to 13 and the Tigewrs led 36-25 at intermission.
Central closed within eight early in the second period but a jumper by Preston Blackmon started a 10-2 run that gave SSU (19-10, 12-2) a 50-34 edge with 9:45 remaining.
A layup by Arnold with 6:45 on the clock gave SSU thier biggest lead of the evening at 54-37 and Central never got closer than 13 the rest of the way.
Blackmon added 12 points for Savannah State while Smith had seven points to go with his game-high eight rebounds.
Dominique Sutton led NCCU (14-13, 8-6) with 12 points
