Indiana Trips SSU 94-65

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.- Cody Zeller scored 23 points to lead Indiana to a 94-65 win over Savannah State in Assembly Hall before 16,613 fans in the Hoosier Invitational.

The Hoosiers raced out to a 7-2 lead but Savannah State battled back to tie the game at 14 after a 3-pointer from Deric Rudolph with 11:10 left in the opening half.

Indiana would answer SSU with 13 straight points to take a 27-14 lead with 8:30 on the clock.

The Hoosiers lead would grow to 15 but Savannah State would draw as close as 35-25 with 3:32 on the clock after a jumper by Patrick Hendley.

Clinging to a 10 point lead with 1:15 left, Indiana finished the first half with a dunk by Tom Pritchard and a 3-pointer by Derek Elston to take a 46-31 lead into the half.

Ahead 55-39, Indiana used a 14-1 run to go ahead by 29 with 9:05 remaining.

SSU would get as close as 24 with 7:44 on the clock before the Hoosiers would run their advantage to 91-56 with 3:22 remaining.

The Tigers (1-3) shot 44 percent from the field and had three players in double figures.

Joshua Montgomery came off the bench to score 12 points while Preston Blackmon added 11 and Rashad Hassan scored 10. Hassan and Arnold Louis each had five rebounds before fouling out.

Indiana, who improved to 4-0, shot 57.1 percent from the floor.
