NORMAL, Ill.- Former Savannah State outfielder/first baseman
Jonathan Ross has signed a professional contract to play baseball for the Normal Cornbelters of the Independent Frontier League.
During the 2010 season at SSU, the Macon, Georgia native batted .416 with 74 hits, 64 runs, 13 doubles, 11 home runs and five triples. Ross (5-11, 220) had a .730 slugging percentage, .498 on base percentage and stole 20 bases.
Prior to signing with the Cornbelters, Ross played for the Macon Pinetoppers of the Peach State League. As an outfielder/first baseman, he played in 10 games and batted .276 with six hits, one homerun, one double and two stolen bases.
