DENVER, C0.- Shannon Sharpe, who some consider the greatest tight end in Denver Broncos history took his place among the team's legends when the Broncos induct him into their Ring of Fame.
Sharpe made a splashy entrance, skydiving into the stadium in with a professional parachuter.
Sharpe was honored during halftime of the Broncos home opener against the Cleveland Browns at Invesco Field at Mile High. Denver won 27-6.
The Glennville, Georgia native played 12 of his 14 NFL seasons with the Broncos. He helped the Broncos win back-to-back Super Bowls in 1997 and 1998 and also won a Super Bowl with the Baltimore Ravens in 2000.
He was named to seven consecutive Pro Bowls, which tied a team record, and, upon his retirement after the 2003 season, he was the NFL's all-time leader in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns by a tight end. Atlanta Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez has since broken those records.
Sharpe was a seventh-round draft choice from Savannah State in 1990.
