FARMVILLE, Va.- Lashara Smith scored a game-high 16 points as Savannah State downed
Longwood 59-54 in Willett Hall.

Ashlee Barley and
Raven Fields came off the bench to combine for 24 points
with Barley scoring 14 points. Fields added 10 points and nine rebounds.
SSU won the game despite not scoring a field goal the last five minutes of the contest.
The game featured five lead changes and four ties.
Longwood opened with a 12-4 lead but SSU rallied to take a 19-18 lead with 7:20 left
on a jumper by Barley.
With the game tied at 23, the Lancers ended the half out-scoring SSU 6-2 as they
took a 29-25 lead into the locker room.
Savannah State trailed 33-27 early in the second half but put together a surge that
allowed them to tie the game at 44 with 8:45 remaining.
With 5:36 left to go, SSU led 52-48 but Longwood was able to tie the game at 54.
The Lady Tigers (7-19) ended the game with clutch free throw shooting to get the
win. Smith hit one free throw while Fields and
Courtney Long made two each.
SSU shot 45.3 percent from the floor for the game while the Lancers shot 29.1
percent. Longwood out-rebounded the Lady Tigers 40 to 31.
Sierra Fletcher and Anna Steg scored 11 points each for Longwood (7-19)
