Savannah State Cruises Past Columbia

SAVANNAH, Ga.- Savannah State out-scored Columbia College 43-9 in the second half and the Lady Tigers went on to cruise to a 77-21 win at Tiger Arena.

SSU improved to 5-2 overall while Columbia fell to 1-7.

Courtney Long, Crissa Jackson and Reynetta Phillips all scored 11 points for Savannah State. Phillips came off the bench to grab a game-high and career-high seven rebounds in 11 minutes of action.

Columbia missed their first nine shots and did not score until the 15:55 mark when Natasha Blackmore made a jumper to make the score 6-2.

Leading 15-7, SSU went on a 17-0 run to grab a 25 point lead with 3:31 left in the first half.

Savannah State led 34-12 at intermission.

After trading baskets to open the second period, the Lady Tigers scored 28 unanswered points to take a 64-14 lead with 8:26 remaining.

SSU out-scored Columbia 56-8 in the paint and out-rebounded Columbia 52 to 33.

Columbia shot 14.8 percent for the game while SSU shot 60.7 percent in the second half and 50.8 percent for the game.

Kiara Fefie had seven points for Columbia.
