Tigers Split With Presbyterian

SAVANNAH, Ga- Freshman Michael Allegretti tossed a five hitter as Savannah State defeated Presbyterian 7-1 in the first game of a double-header at Tiger Field. The Blue Hose won game two 6-3.

In the first game, Presbyterian took an early 1-0 lead but the Tigers tied the game in the second thanks to two errors by the Blue Hose. Alfred Arnold doubled home a run to give SSU a 2-1 advantage in the fourth inning.

In the fifth, the Tigers had five runners to cross the plate off one hit and three errors. David Rowland and Andrew Mendez scored unearned runs while Matt Oglesby blasted a three-run home run.

Santos Adames and Brandon Javis each scored twice for SSU.

The second game saw Presbyterian (11-25) jump out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first. SSU rallied to tie the game with one run in the first and two in the bottom of the second. The Blue Hose added one run in the fourth and two in the sixth to round out the scoring.

Brett Pointer and David Washington had two hits each for the Tigers (18-17).

Robert Ramsdale took the loss on the mound as he gave up nine hits, five earned runs and four walks. Ramsdale struck out three batters.
