Walker Named SIAC Preseason First Team All-Conference, Volleyball Picked to Finish Fifth

ATLANTA, Ga. – Savannah State junior setter Amiyah Walker has been named to the 2026 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Women's Volleyball Preseason All-Conference First Team, the conference office announced on Tuesday morning, adding another honor to an already impressive collegiate résumé.

Walker enters her junior season as one of the conference's top returning setters following a standout sophomore campaign in 2025.

The Pleasant Grove, Alabama native appeared in all 27 matches for the Lady Tigers last season, playing in 98 sets and making 27 starts. Walker led Savannah State with 764 assists, averaging 7.80 assists per set, while also finishing second on the team with 288 digs.

Walker proved to be an all-around contributor for Savannah State throughout the season, finishing with 90 kills, 132 points, 22 service aces and 38 total blocks. She posted a .185 hitting percentage and averaged 2.94 digs per set.

Her performance earned her Second Team All-SIAC honors following the regular season. Walker finished the regular season with 702 assists, ranking second among SIAC setters.

Walker also earned SIAC Setter of the Week honors during the season following an outstanding performance at the SIAC West Crossover in Memphis, Tennessee. She totaled 113 assists during the three-match event as Savannah State posted a perfect 3-0 record. Walker recorded 39 assists and four blocks against Central State, followed with 31 assists and nine digs against Lane and closed the weekend with 43 assists, 13 digs and a service ace against LeMoyne-Owen.

She continued her strong play during the postseason and was selected to the 2025 SIAC Women's Volleyball Championship All-Tournament Team, marking the second consecutive season that Walker earned a spot on the conference's all-tournament squad.

Her 2025 honors continued a strong start to her Savannah State career.

As a freshman in 2024, Walker led Savannah State with 526 assists while finishing second on the team with 31 service aces and third with 247 digs. She added 56 kills and 16 blocks while appearing in 84 sets. Her performance helped Savannah State post a then-program-record 15 victories and earned Walker a spot on the 2024 SIAC All-Tournament Team.

Prior to the 2025 season, Walker was selected to the Preseason All-SIAC First Team, giving her preseason first-team recognition in consecutive seasons.

Walker now enters 2026 with an impressive list of conference accolades that includes two SIAC All-Tournament Team selections, 2025 Second Team All-SIAC honors, an SIAC Setter of the Week award and back-to-back Preseason First Team All-SIAC selections.

Additionally, the office unveiled their 2026 Preseason Predicted Order of finish, where the Lady Tigers were selected to finish fifth in front of Central State, Edward Waters, Miles, Kentucky State, Tuskegee, Allen, Clark Atlanta, Lane, and LeMoyne-Owen. Finishing in front of Savannah State were Benedict (4th), Albany State (3rd), last years runner-up Fort Valley State (2nd) and winners of their last seven consecutive SIAC Championships, Spring Hill in the top spot once again.

Savannah State is coming off another record-setting season under head coach Roselidah Obunaga. The Lady Tigers finished the 2025 campaign with a 16-11 overall record, establishing a new program record for victories for the second consecutive season.

Savannah State also earned its third consecutive appearance in the SIAC Women's Volleyball Championship and advanced to the tournament semifinals before falling to Fort Valley State in a five-set battle.

With Walker returning to direct the Savannah State offense, the Lady Tigers will look to build on the program's recent success and continue to set new standers for Lady Tiger Volleyball in 2026.

Savannah State will officially open the 2026 season on Tuesday, September 1st with a non-conference road contest at Brewton-Parker at 6pm in Mount Vernon, Georgia.
