ALBANY, Ga.- Albany State completed their three-game sweep of Savannah State on Sunday afternoon with a 6-1 victory.
The Tigers finished the game with one run and four hits while leaving ten runners on base.
Savanah State scored their only run in the top of the first inning.
Seth Stargell, who transferred to SSU from Albany State, drew a walk and advanced to second base on a throwing error by the pitcher. Following outs by
Johan Sandoval and
Hakem Smith, a single to centerfield by
Yan Cartaya allowed Stargell to come home.
SSU left runners stranded on third base in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings and left the bases loaded in the top of the ninth.
The Golden Rams scored three times in the second inning and added two runs in the sixth and another one in the seventh to complete the scoring on the day.
Cartaya went 2-for-4 at the plate for Savannah State with a pair of singles.
Salvatore Urso took the loss on the mound, surrendering five hits, five runs and two walks while striking out two in six innings.
Joshua Krutchik pitched for two innings and gave up two hits, one run and two walks with one strikeout.
Savannah State (11-9, 8-4Â SIAC) will play a non-conference game with Erskine on March 10 at 2p.m. at Tiger Field.
