SAVANNAH, Ga.- Savannah State hosted in-state rival Albany State on Wednesday afternoon at the SSU Tennis Courts. The match went down to the wire with the Lady Tigers pulling out a 4-3 win over ASU.
The victory halts a two-match losing skid and gives Savannah State a 3-4 overall and 3-4 conference record.
The Lady Tigers won two of three doubles matches with
Madeleine Anne Nolan and
Nyla Warner defeating their opponents 6-0 and
Katelynn Welch and
Simone Reese knocking off their opponents by default.
Sunzahra Banks and
Amaia Connor lost their match 6-3.
Sunzahra Banks,
Amaia Connor and
Simone Reese were all victorious in the singles matches with Banks winning 6-0, 6-3, Connor winning 6-0, 6-1 and Reese winning by default.
Madeleine Anne Nolan lost her singles match 6-2, 6-1,
Nyla Warner lost her match 6-2, 6-4 and
Katelynn Welch came up short in her match 6-1, 6-0.
Savannah State will host Oberlin on March 23 at 3 p.m.
