ATLANTA, Ga.-The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) named its conference Baseball Players of the Week on Tuesday afternoon. Savannah State freshman
Bynton Edge was selected as the Pitcher of the Week for his two solid performances in last week's wins over Voorhees and Kentucky State.
The Lake City, Florida native and two-sport student-athlete at Savannah State (also a wide receiver on the SSU football team) posted a 2-0 record in two appearances, finishing the week with a 2.25 ERA over 8.0 innings pitched. He allowed three hits and two earned runs while striking out 13 and limiting opponents to a .111 batting average. He opened the week by pitching 4.0 innings, allowing two hits and one earned run while striking out five in an 11-6 win over Voorhees. Edge followed with another strong outing in relief, tossing 4.0 innings while allowing one hit and one earned run and recording eight strikeouts in a 5-4 win over Kentucky State.
