SAVANNAH, Ga.- Savannah State University infielder
Johan Sandoval has been named to the ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division II All-South Region Second Team as a second baseman, announced Wednesday by the American Baseball Coaches Association.
A two-time All-Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference selection, Sandoval was the only SSU player to start all 47 games for the Tigers this season.
The Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic native finished the season with a .369 batting average and a .585 slugging percentage. Sandoval went to the plate 176 times and collected 65 hits with 15 doubles, four triples and five home runs. He had 51 RBI while scoring 55 times and stole 21 bases in 23 attempts.
A 6-foot-2 junior, Sandoval had a .953 fielding percentage with 193 catches, 93 put outs, 91 assists and nine errors.
One of his best games of the season against Miles on March 28 when he went 4-for-4 at the plate and finished the contest with five RBI and three runs. He also had four-hit performance against Tuskegee where he drove in three runs on April 3.
Sandoval earned First Team All-SIAC honors as a first baseman in 2026 and was named to the All-SIAC Second team as a first baseman in 2025 in addition to being to the 2025 SIAC All-Tournament team.
