SAVANNAH, Ga.- Savannah State opened their spring tennis season with a exhibition match against USC Sumter on Thursday afternoon at the SSU Tennis Courts.
The Fire Ants won the match 6-1.
Madeleine Anne Nolan and Jaeda Cooper won their doubles match over Pawarada Thaimuangphol and Pawarapa Thaimuangphol, 8-2.
Nyla Warner and Katelynn Welch lost to Dana Espinoza and Mila Salazar, 8-2 while Sunzahra Banks and Amaia Conner fell to Isabella Roa and Martina Aviles, 8-5.
Nolan was the lone SSU player to win their singles match. The junior from New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada defeated Aviles 6-2, 5-7, 10-5.
Warner lost to Pawarada Thaimuangphol 1-6, 0-6 while Cooper fell to Salazar 3-6, 2-6.
Banks dropped a 6-3,4-6, 2-10 decision to Pawarapa Thaimuangphol, Welch lost to Espinoza (1-6, 2-6) and Conner lost to Roa (1-6, 1-6).
Savannah State will travel to Orlando, Florida to play in the SIAC Roundup on February 26-28.
