LANDRUM, S.C. – The Savannah State University women's golf team opened the fall portion of their 2026 season on Monday as they competed part in the Glassy Mountain Autumn Classic, hosted by North Greenville University, on Monday at The Cliffs at Glassy Golf Course.
Through the first two rounds of action, the Lady Tigers sit in 15th place in the 15-team field after posting a two-round total of 758 (+182). Savannah State opened the tournament with a first-round score of 390 before improving by 22 strokes in the second round, carding a 368.
Zell Wilson led Savannah State through the opening 36 holes, finishing Monday with a combined score of 175 (+31), placing her in a tie for 59th individually. Wilson opened the tournament with an 89 before shaving three strokes off her score in the afternoon round, shooting an 86.
Corynn Rodney and
Ziporah Ward followed, finishing tied for 74th with identical two-round totals of 193 (+49). Rodney recorded rounds of 99 and 94, while Ward showed significant improvement between rounds, following an opening-round 102 with a 91, an 11-stroke improvement.
Jenna Wilson finished the day in 80th place with a two-round total of 197 (+53). Wilson opened with a 100 before shooting a 97 in the second round.
Morgan Wilkerson rounded out the Savannah State lineup, finishing in 81st place with a combined score of 204 (+60). Wilkerson recorded rounds of 103 and 101.
As a team, the Lady Tigers demonstrated improvement throughout Monday's competition, with all five golfers lowering their scores during the second round.
Lander University leads the team standings after two rounds, posting a combined score of 594 (+18). Belmont Abbey College follows in second place with a 624 (+48).
The tournament, hosted by North Greenville University, features a competitive field of NCAA Division II programs competing on the par-72, 5,801-yard course at The Cliffs at Glassy.
