SAVANNAH, Ga.- The Savannah State University football team will report to fall camp on August 4 as they prepare for the 2025 season.
SSU will have 27 days from the time they report to campus to prepare to face I-95 rival Edward Waters University on August 30 at Theodore A. Wright Stadium at 6:00 p.m. The contest will be the season and conference opener for both teams.
The first two days of preseason camp will involve the players checking into their residence halls and doing paperwork (medical, business office, financial aid, housing, compliance, etc.). Equipment will also be issued on August 4 and 5.
SSU will have 22 practices during the preseason and the coaching staff has arranged for almost a dozen speakers to come in to address the team on various subjects.
The first practice on August 6 will be a walk thru while the team will be in helmets on August 7-9.
The team will be in uppers on August 10-11 and will have their first full padded practice on a day later on the 12th.
The squad will also be in full pads are August 13, 14, 16, 19, 20, 22, 23, 26 and 27.
The final preseason practice is scheduled for August 29 and the team will be in uppers.
Other key dates include August 6, 8 and 16-18. The Tigers will have picture day on August 6; on August 8, the team will workout with the Navy Seals; on August 16, the team will participate in the athletics department cookout; on August 17, they will attend the Athletics Fall Convocation; and on August 18, the players will not practice because it is the first day of classes at the university.
Practices are open to the public.
Savannah State will play five home games this season.
