MACON, Ga.- Savannah State swept Albany State in all three of their meetings during the regular season but the Golden Rams took out their frustrations on Saturday afternoon with a 23-8 win over the Tigers at Luther Williams Field.
The loss sends SSU to the elimination bracket where they will face the winner of the game between #1 seed Spring Hill and #2 seed Edward Waters at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Albany State scored a run in the top of the first inning and #3 seed SSU tied the game in the bottom half of the inning when 
Kendal Spencer drew a walk and came home on a single to center field by 
Reginald Tuggle.
The Golden Rams added two more runs in the second and then exploded for seven runs in the top in the third to go ahead 10-1.
Albany State, who is the #4 seed,  increased their advantage to 14-1 with more more runs in the top of the fourth but the Tigers answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning as 
Kijani Clarington hit a RBI single and 
William Mahoney IV hit a RBI double.
Savannah State tacked on their final five runs of the day in the fifth with a two-run home run by 
Kendal Spencer over the right field fence followed by a three-run home run by 
Tyler Tucker over the left field fence.
The Golden Rams scored nine runs over the final two innings, getting five in the sixth and four more in the top of the seventh.
The Tigers (31-23) used eight pitchers in the game. 
Solomon Masters drew the start and lasted 2.2 innings before being replaced by 
Adonis Perez, 
Joshua Krutchik, 
Giovante Tomlins, 
Aidan Turner, 
Evan Kehren, 
Noah Brown and 
Rodney Evans II. The eight combined to surrender 17 hits and a dozen walks while striking out ten.
At the plate, Tuggle went 4-for-4 and scored twice, Tucker drove in three runs, Clarington had two hits and Spencer finished two hits, two RBI and crossed home plate twice.
