Mobile, Alabama-Savannah State sophomore
Madeleine Anne Nolan was the bright spot for the Lady Tigers during the first day of action at the second SIAC Roundup on Wednesday afternoon at the Mobile Tennis Center.
Despite the team's identical 6-1 losses to Benedict at Clark Atlanta respectively, Nolan was able to lead the charge for SSU winning both of her matches 6-1, 6-1 against Benedict, and 6-1, 6-2 over Clark Atlanta.
Against Benedict, the doubles pair of
Nyla Warner and
Katelynn Welch fell 6-1 in #1 Doubles, Nolan and
Trinitee Henry fell 6-4, and Amaia Conner and
Yanna Cunningham lost 6-1.
In the singles matches, Warner lost 6-1, 6-1, Welch also fell 6-1, 6-1, Conner lost 6-0, 6-1, Henry lost 6-0, 6-1, and Cunningham lost 6-0, 6-0.
In the afternoon session against Clark Atlanta, Warner and Welch lost in 6-2, Nolan and Henry captured victory 6-3, and Connor & Cunningham fell short 6-1.
In singles, Warner fell 6-1, 6-2, Connor lost 6-2, 6-1, Welch lost 6-1, 6-1, Henry fell 6-0, 6-0, and Cunningham lost 6-0, 6-0.
The Lady Tigers will look to rebound on Thursday as they will battle both Tuskegee at 9:00am and Edward Waters at 1:00pm.
