Savannah State Releases 2026 Baseball Schedule

SAVANNAH, Ga.- Savannah State University's 2026 baseball schedule is challenging to say the least.

The Tigers will take on top programs such as University of Fort Lauderdale, University of Illinois Springfield, Albany State University and Tampa.

Fort Lauderdale won 42 games a year ago and advanced to the NCCAA Final Four while Illinois Springfield won 36 games before falling in the championship game of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament. Albany State, who had 31 wins, captured the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Division II South Regional and Tampa won the NCAA Division II championship in 2025 and posted 55 victories.

Savannah State was no slouch either. The Tigers had 32 wins last year and fell in the finals of the SIAC Tournament Championship to Albany State

Other non-conference games include Peach Belt Conference opponents University of South Carolina Beaufort and Claflin and Conference Carolina member Erskine.

SSU will play 45 games in 2026 with 25 at Tiger Field.

Florentino "Tino" Burgos will start his second season as the Tigers head coach on January 30 when SSU plays a three game series on the road at University of Fort Lauderdale but will return home to host University of Illinois Springfield February 6-7 in their home opener.

Clark Atlanta will visit Tiger Field for three games on Feb. 14-15 as Savannah State begins conference play. 

Other home games against SIAC opponents will be Kentucky State (Feb. 21-22), Benedict (March 14-15), Miles (March 28-29), Edward Waters (April 11-12) and LeMoyne-Owen (April 18-19).

The Tigers will hit the road to play conference foes Morehouse (Feb. 28-March 1), Albany State (March 7-8), Spring Hill (March 21-22), Tuskegee (April 3-4) and Lane (April 24-25).

Savannah State will have home and home non-conference games with South Carolina Beaufort, hosting the Sand Sharks on March 31 and taking the trip to the South Carolina Lowcountry on April 14.

SSU will host Tampa (Feb. 24), Erskine (March 10) and Claflin (March 24) while playing Voorhees on the road on Feb. 17 in non-conference match-ups.

The 2026 SIAC Tournament Championship will be held April 30-May 3 at a yet to be announced location.
