COLUMBIA, S.C.- Despite Amiyah Walker's 37 assists and 16 digs, Savannah State came up short in Tuesday night's 3-1 loss to Allen in a match played at Adams Gymnasium.

The conference setback gives Savannah State a 14-6 overall record and a 10-4 record in the SIAC.

The Lady Tigers won the first set 25-20 but dropped the next three sets (25-16, 25-23, 26-24).

Although Savannah State lost, they had more kills, blocks, assists and digs than the Yellow Jackets.

SSU raced to a 5-0 lead in the opening set and used a 5-0 run to increase their lead to 10-2. Allen was able to cut their deficit to 22-19 before the Lady Tigers ended the set with back-to-back kills by Mina Ezikpe and Walker.

Allen opened the second set with a 6-0 run but Savannah State was able to trim their deficit to 8-6. With Allen leading 18-15, the Yellow Jackets ended the set with a 7-1 spurt to tie the match at 1-1.

The third set was a close one. Allen broke a 22-22 tie with a kill and a error by SSU but a kill by Aaliyah Saunders drew Savannah State within 24-23 before the Yellow Jackets scored the winning point.

Allen led 24-20 in the fourth set before the Lady Tigers rallied with a pair of kills by Nyalah Smith and two Allen errors to tie the set at 24. However, the final two points were scored by the Yellow Jackets with a pair of kills.

Nyalah Smith had 17 kills, Aaliyah Saunders blocked four shots, Saniaa Dickey added ten digs while Walker and Savannah Everett had two aces apiece.
