SAVANNAH, Ga.- Four days after being named the SIAC Pitcher of the Week, 
Jose Santiago pitched a four-hitter to help Savannah State to a 13-1 victory over Miles. The game was played March 30, 2024 at Tiger Field.
 
The victory secures the Tigers of another 20-win season as they improved to 20-7 overall and 15-6 in conference play.
 
The win also gives SSU the season series win over the Bears. The Tigers won the first game of their doubleheader on March 29 by a score of 9-7 but got tripped up in the second game and lost 13-6.
 
In the rubber game of the series, Savannah State received fine pitching in addition having seven of their 13 hits go for extra bases.
 
Jason Miller hit a triple for SSU and 
Hunter Bradshaw hit two doubles. Also hitting doubles were 
Jadon Oden, 
Kendal Spencer, 
Chandler Hicks and 
Brevin Smith.
 
In the bottom of the first inning, 
Addrian McNeal Jr drew a walk and advanced to third base on a single by 
Hunter Bradshaw. 
Addrian McNeal Jr  and 
Hunter Bradshaw both scored on back-to-back errors by the Miles shortstop for a 2-0 lead.
 
Miles scored their lone run in the top of the second inning when Max Davenport hit a sacrifice fly that scored Camden Matthews.
 
After that it was all SSU as the Tigers added five runs in the bottom of the second and fifth innings and one more in the bottom of the sixth to claim the win.
 
In the second inning, Savannah State loaded the bases when 
Brevin Smith and  
Jadon Oden both singled and 
Addrian McNeal Jr drew a walk. 
Kendal Spencer's sacrifice fly scored 
Brevin Smith, 
Hunter Bradshaw's double sent 
Jadon Oden home, 
Chandler Hicks' double brought home 
Addrian McNeal Jr and 
Hunter Bradshaw and a triple by 
Jason Miller allowed 
Chandler Hicks to cross home plate to give SSU a 7-1 lead.
 
The fifth inning saw 
Addrian McNeal Jr draw a walk and advance to third on a 
Kendal Spencer double. 
Addrian McNeal Jr scored when 
Hunter Bradshaw reached base because of an error by the third baseman and 
Kendal Spencer was able to scored when 
Chandler Hicks reached base because of an error by the shortstop. A walk to 
Jason Miller loaded the bases for 
Desmore Joseph II who hit a single that brought home 
Hunter Bradshaw and 
Chandler Hicks. A sacrifice fly by 
Brevin Smith was deep enough for 
Jason Miller to score and give the Tigers a 12-1 advantage.
 
Jadon Oden led off the bottom of the sixth with a double to right field and he advanced to third base on a fly out by 
Addrian McNeal Jr. 
Jadon Oden scored the final run of the game following 
Hunter Bradshaw's double to left field.
 
Miles (16-16, 14-7 SIAC) had four errors in the game and left eight men on base while SSU made three errors and stranded a dozen runners on base.
 
Jadon Oden had two hits and scored twice,  
Addrian McNeal Jr scored three times, 
Kendal Spencer had two hits and two RBI, 
Chandler Hicks had three RBI and scored twice, 
Desmore Joseph II had two RBI and 
Brevin Smith had two hits.
 
SSU will travel to Tuskegee for a three-game series on April 6-7.
