JACKSON, Tenn.- Playing the rubber game on their three game series, Savannah State banged out 21 hits as they beat Lane 14-10 in a game played on March 24, 2024 at Union University.
 
The Tigers trailed 9-3 after three innings of play but outscored the Dragons 11-1 over the final six innings.
 
Kendal Spencer had the big bat for SSU, going 4-for-4 at the plate with four RBI.
 
D'Sean Prinkleton led off the game with a double to right field which was followed by back-to-back singles by 
Jadon Oden and 
Kendal Spencer.

Hunter Bradshaw allowed 
Jadon Oden to score and a sacrifice fly by 
Chandler Hicks sent home 
Kendal Spencer for a 3-0 lead.
 
The Dragons (11-17, 10-8 SIAC) responded with eight runs off four hits in the bottom half to the inning and added another run in the bottom of the third for a commanding 9-3 lead.
 
Beginning in the top of  the fifth inning, SSU began to whittle away at their deficit.
 
In the fifth, 
Hunter Bradshaw hit a two-run double to make the score 9-5 while in the sixth, 
Jason Miller and 
William Mahoney IV hit back-to-back singles and ended up scoring as Savannah State trimmed Lane's lead to 9-7.
 
Kendal Spencer led off the seventh with a double and scored on a double by 
Jason Miller. With the bases loaded, a wild pitch allowed 
Jason Miller to cross home plate to tie the game at 9-9.
 
The Tigers sent three runners across home plate in the eighth while collecting four hits.
 
Hakem Smith doubled, 
Jadon Oden singled and 
Kendal Spencer was hit by a pitch to load the bases for 
Hunter Bradshaw who hit a single up the middle that scored 
Hakem Smith. A single by 
Chandler Hicks brought home 
Jadon Oden and a sacrifice fly by 
Jason Miller sent home 
Kendal Spencer.
 
In the top of the ninth, 
Jacob Rushin singled and 
Jadon Oden drew a walk. 
Jacob Rushin scored on a single by 
Hunter Bradshaw and 
Jadon Oden crossed home plate following a single by 
Chandler Hicks to make the score 14-9.
 
Lane left the bases loaded but could only score once in the bottom of the ninth for the final score of the contest.
 
Jadon Oden had three hits and scored four times for the Tigers, 
Hunter Bradshaw had three hits and five RBI, 
Chandler Hicks had three hits and three RBI, 
Jason Miller had two hits, two RBI and scored twice and 
Brevin Smith added two hits.
 
Brayden Thomas struck out three batters for SSU while on the mound.
 
Zach Baker had three hits and three RBI for Lane.
 
The win gives Savannah State a 13-5 SIAC record while they improve to 18-6 overall.
 
SSU will wrap up their eight game road trip with a double-header at Voorhees on March 27.
