ATLANTA, Ga. Savannah State wrapped up their three-game series with Morehouse by splitting a double-header at Gresham Park on March 17, 2024.
 
Morehouse upset SSU in the first game 8-6 but Savannah State won the rubber game 14-5.
 
The split leaves the Tigers with a 16-5 record and a 11-4 SIAC record.
 
Savannah State was ranked No. 10 in the latest NCBWA South Region Poll.
 
In the first game, Morehouse led 8-1 after six innings of play. The Maroon Tigers scored twice in the first inning and added a run in the third, three in the fourth and one each in the fifth and sixth innings.
 
SSU's 
Jadon Oden led off the top of the second inning with a single and scored on 
Jason Miller's double to right field.
 
In the top of the seventh inning, 
Jacob Rushin drew a walk, stole second and third base and scored on a single by 
D'Sean Prinkleton. 
Kendal Spencer followed with a two-run home run to pull SSU within 8-4.
 
D'Sean Prinkleton led off the ninth inning with a walk and came home when 
Chandler Hicks hit a home run over the left field fence to close the Tigers gap to 8-6.
 
SSU had eight hits in the game and left eight runners on base while Morehouse collected nine hits and stranded 11 runners. Both teams made two errors.
 
Jadon Oden had three hits for the Tigers, 
Kendal Spencer had two hits and two RBI, 
D'Sean Prinkleton scored twice and 
Chandler Hicks drove in a pair of runs.
 
Andrew Mann was tagged with the loss on the mound and had four strikeouts.
 
Timothy Whiteman had three hits for Morehouse.
 
Both teams combined for 22 hits in the second game but both also stranded 11 runners on base.
 
D'Sean Prinkleton opened the contest with a walk and advanced to third on a single by 
Jadon Oden.  A ground-out by 
Hunter Bradshaw allowed 
D'Sean Prinkleton to score for a 1-0 lead.
 
In the top of the third, 
Kendal Spencer hit a double to center field and scored on a single by 
Chandler Hicks. A single by 
Farah Castillo allowed 
Chandler Hicks to advance to third and a single by 
Addrian McNeal Jr brought home 
Chandler Hicks. 
Farah Castillo scored when 
William Mahoney IV reached base on an error by the third baseman and back-to-back doubles to left field by 
D'Sean Prinkleton and 
Jadon Oden sent home Addrian Mcneal Jr and 
D'Sean Prinkleton to cap a six-run third inning that gave SSU a 7-0 lead.
 
Hunter Bradshaw reached base on an error by the third baseman in the fourth inning and scored on a sacrifice fly by 
Farah Castillo for a 8-0 advantage.
 
Morehouse scored twice in the bottom half of the inning but still trailed by six.
 
Savannah State left the bases loaded in the sixth but not before they sent five players across home plate.
 
After 
Hunter Bradshaw singled and

Farah Castillo hit a single to left field that scored

Jacob Rushin to cross home plate to increase their lead to 13-2.
 
The Maroon Tigers added a run in the bottom of the sixth.
 
Farah Castillo and 
William Mahoney IV drew walks in the seventh inning and scored on a balk by the Morehouse pitcher for  a 14-3 cushion.
 
Morehouse (7-16, 4-11 SIAC) scored twice in the bottom of the seventh for the last runs of the game.
 
Addrian McNeal Jr drove in three runs to compliment his two hits and two runs while 
Farah Castillo scored three times to go with his two hits and two RBI.
 
Jadon Oden and 
Jacob Rushin both collected a pair of hits for the Tigers and 
D'Sean Prinkleton and 
Hunter Bradshaw both scored twice.
 
Brevin Smith, 
Brayden Thomas, 
Adonis Perez and 
Gerald Toledo III all saw action on the mound for SSU and combined to strike out four batters.
 
Timothy Whiteman scored twice for Morehouse.
 
Savannah State will continue their eight-game road swing with a trip to Jackson, Tennessee to play Lane in a three-game series on March 22-23.
