ATLANTA, Ga.-
Chandler Hicks hit a pair of doubles to help Savannah State beat Morehouse 12-2 in a game played march 16, 2024 at Gresham Park.

Hicks, who went 3-for-4 at the plate, hit a double in the second inning and a two-run double in the top of the eighth.

The win improved SSU to 15-4 overall and 10-3 in SIAC play.

Savannah State had four hits in the second inning but could only score one run.
Chandler Hicks hit a double, advanced to third base on a single by
Jason Miller and scored when
William Mahoney IV hit a single to right field.

The Maroon Tigers tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the sixth but SSU answered with three runs on three hits in the top of the seventh inning.

William Mahoney IV and
Farah Castillo hit back-to-back singles and
Jacob Rushin drew a walk to load the bases for
D'Sean Prinkleton who slapped a double to center field that cleared the bases and give Savannah State a 4-1 lead.

Morehouse added a run in the bottom of the seventh to slice SSU's lead to 4-2.

Savannah State put the game away by scoring eight runs in the top of the eighth inning on six hits.

Hunter Bradshaw led off the inning with a single and
Chandler Hicks followed with a walk.
Jason Miller's ground-out to the first baseman allowed the runners to advance a base.
William Mahoney IV reached base on a fielder's choice but
Hunter Bradshaw was thrown out at the plate for the second out.
Farah Castillo and
Jacob Rushin hit back-to-back singles that scored

Hakem Smith who hit a single that brought home
Farah Castillo.
Kendal Spencer reached base on an error by the catcher and that allowed
Jacob Rushin to cross home plate.
Hunter Bradshaw came to the plate again and this time the senior from Jacksonville, Florida blasted a two-run single to center field that scored
D'Sean Prinkleton and
Hakem Smith. The final runs of the game came on
Chandler Hicks' two-run double to left field that allowed
Kendal Spencer and
Hunter Bradshaw to score.

The Tigers ended the game with 14 hits and drew five walks.

Hunter Bradshaw and two hits and two RBI while
Chandler Hicks added two RBI and scored twice.

Jose Santiago was the winning pitcher with six strikeouts in his eight innings on the mound.
