SAVANNAH, Ga.-
Jadon Oden went 2-for-3 at the plate in Savannah State's 10-2 setback to Embry-Riddle in a game played on March 12, 2024 at Tiger Field.
Oden, a senior outfielder, reached base three times in the game.
The Hampton, Georgia native singled to right center field in the second inning, drew a walk in the bottom of the fourth, and singled to center field in the seventh inning.
Embry-Riddle scored four times in the top of the fourth inning off of three hits.
The Tigers got one of those runs back in the fifth when
Jacob Rushin drew a walk, advanced to second on a wild pitch and went to third base on a passed ball. The Bishop State Community College transfer scored on a sacrifice fly by
Addrian McNeal Jr.
The Eagles went ahead 5-1 after adding another run in the sixth inning.
Savannah State made three errors in the top of the ninth inning which helped Embry-Riddle score five times to increase their lead to 10-1.
SSU had the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth but could only get one run across home plate.
Farah Castillo was hit by a pitch and
Johnnie Williams entered the game as his pinch runner.
Brevin Smith drew a walk and
Johnnie Williams and Smith advanced a base on a wild pitch. After
Tra'Vonte Williams struck out, McNeal drew a walk to load the bases. A wild pitch allowed
Johnnie Williams to score but the final two SSU batters struck out to end the game.
McNeal and
Hunter Bradshaw also had a hit for the Tigers.
Solomon Masters was the losing pitcher.
SSU only had four hits in the game, left ten runners on base and made three errors.
Emory-Riddle (12-6) used four pitchers and John Barone was given credit for the victory. Drew Clymer had three hits, two RBI and scored twice.
Savannah State (14-4) will travel to Morehouse for a three-games series on March 16-17. The games will be played at Gresham Park located at 2466 Bouldercrest Road SE.
