Lady Tigers Earn Top Seed While SSU Men Are Five Seed For SIAC Tournament



ATLANTA, Ga. The brackets have been finalized for the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's and Men's Basketball Tournament.
 
For the second year in a row, the SIAC Basketball Tournament will be held in Savannah, Georgia with the opening, quarterfinal and semifinal games being held at Savannah State University and the championship games being held at EnMarket Arena.
 
The basketball tournament will run from March 3-10, 2024.
 
The top two seeds from each division will receive a double bye in the first two rounds of the tournament, and seeds three, four and five will receive a first-round bye.
 
The SSU Lady Tigers will enter the tournament as the top seed from the SIAC Eastern Division with a 19-5 overall record and a 15-4 conference mark.
 
Savannah State will start their run at a championship on Thursday, March 7 at 12 noon against the winner of the contest between Tuskegee University (14-9, 11-8 SIAC) and Allen University (11-14, 7-12 SIAC).
 
The winner of this game will advance to the semifinals on Saturday, March 9 at 10 a.m.
 
During the regular season the Lady Tigers defeated Tuskegee 60-51 on December 16 in Savannah. SSU swept both games with Allen, winning 64-49 on January 29 in Columbia, South Carolina and 62-56 in Tiger Arena on February 5.
 
On the women's side, SSU is the top seed in the East, followed by Fort Valley State University, Clark Atlanta University, Edward Waters University, Allen, Albany State University and Benedict College. Kentucky State University is the number one seed in the West, followed by Miles College, Lane College, Tuskegee, Central State University, Lemoyne-Owen College and Spring Hill College.
 
As the fifth seed coming out of the SIAC Eastern Division, the SSU men will have a opening round game on Tuesday, March 5 at 2:30 p.m. against Kentucky State (12-13, 9-11 SIAC).
 
Savannah State (12-13, 10-11 SIAC) defeated KSU in their only meeting this season, 75-65 in Tiger Arena on December 9.
 
The winner of the SSU/KSU game will face Clark Atlanta, the top seed in the SIAC Eastern Division on March 7 at 2:30 p.m. in the quarterfinals.
 
The Panthers (22-5, 16-5) beat SSU in both of their meetings this season. CAU won 50-49 in Tiger Arena on January 22 and 72-54 in Atlanta, Georgia on February 10.
 
Clark Atlanta is the top seed in the men's East while Morehouse College is second and Benedict is the third seed. Rounding out the East seeds are Allen, SSU, Edward Waters, Fort Valley State and Albany State. Miles claimed the top seed in the men's Western Division, followed by Tuskegee, Spring Hill, Kentucky State, Lane, LeMoyne-Owen and Central State.

The designated parking area for the tournament will be Tiger Arena. We will be charging patrons for parking on campus for the tournament - with the exception of students, faculty, staff with a valid and current campus parking decal.

SSU students will have free access to the games in Tiger Arena with an official university ID and must use the North entrance of Tiger Arena for entry. All patrons must adhere to the clear bag policy. Metal detectors will be in use at all entrances.
 
At the SIAC Tournament Championship games at Enmarket Arena on March 10, all patrons will have to pay for parking and entry at Enmarket Arena. SSU decals and IDs will not allow access.
