SAVANNAH, Ga.-Looking to build more momentum going into the upcoming SIAC Tournament, the Savannah State women's volleyball squad hosted Edward Waters in their final home contest of the 2024 campaign. The Lady Tigers closed out the home portion of the schedule strong with 3-0 sweep of their Interstate 95 rivals.
Prior to the start of the contest, Head Coach
Roselidah Obunaga honored four seniors (
Tiana Curry,
Jasmine Nettles,
Kloe Ludy, and
O'Niece Roberts) who played their final home contest of their careers. The Lady Tigers (12-8, 11-6 SIAC) met little resistance from EWU (7-21), 7-10 SIAC) in the contest, hitting .300 and holding the visitors to .091. Savannah State also had 46 kills to 30 for Edward Waters, had five service aces, a 5-4 edge in blocks, a 41-27 advantage in assists, and 55-44 in digs.
Savannah Everett led all players with 13 kills, While
Jasmine Nettles had 12, and Aaliyah Nettles totaled eight.
Ayanna Klaiber-Norris led SSU in Blocks with three,
Amiyah Walker had 21 assists, and Nettles led in digs with 13.
Savannah State will hit the road to Columbia, South Carolina for their last two matches of the regular season. Next Saturday, the Lady Tigers will face Allen at 6:00pm, then on Saturday, SSU will battle Benedict at 1:00pm.
