ALBANY, Ga.-The two game winning streak that the Savannah State women's volleyball squad enjoyed, unfortunately came to an end on Saturday afternoon. In a matchup of the SIAC East Division's #1 and #2 teams, it would be division leading Albany State that would carry the day with a 3-0 (21-25, 22-25, 20-25) straight sets win over SSU at the Jones Brothers HPER Complex.
Savannah State (10-8, 9-6 SIAC) fought valiantly in the matchup, but the high powered Albany State (15-7, 13-2 SIAC) squad did just enough to come out on top. In the match, ASU took a 35-21 edge in kills, recorded six service aces to two for the Lady Tigers, had an 8-7 advantage in total blocks, 34-31 in assists, while each team recorded 49 digs.
Savannah Everett finished the afternoon with 15 kills, while
Jasmine Nettles had nine, and
Aaliyah Saunders had three to go along with five total blocks.
Tiana Curry had a match high 25 assists, while
Kloe Ludy turned in a match high 22 digs for SSU.
Savannah State will return for a two match home stand starting on Thursday evening against Clark Atlanta and a Friday evening Senior Night contest against Edward Waters. First serve for both matches is set for 6:00pm.
