SAVANNAH, Ga.- In a battle of the top two teams in the SIAC East, Savannah State entered their match with Albany State looking for their fifth consecutive win but they would be denied as the Golden Rams beat SSU 3-2.

The match took place October 25, 2024 at the Savannah State Willcox-Wiley Gymnasium.

Savannah State won the opening two sets with scores of 25-17 and 25-21.

With SSU seeking to close out Albany State in the third set, the Golden Rams had other plans as they won the next three sets to earn the victory by scores of 20-25, 16-25, 10-15 to improve their record to 13-6 and 11-2 SIAC to remain in first place in the Eastern Division.

The setback drops Savannah State down to third place, just below Clark Atlanta, with a 8-6 overall record and a 7-4 mark in the SIAC.

Jasmine Nettles had a double-double for SSU with 17 kills and 16 digs to go along with her two aces and one block.
Â
Tiana Curry added 18 assists, nine digs, eight kills, two blocks and one ace while
Savannah Everett added 11 kills and two digs.

Amiyah Walker had 24 assists, four kills, four digs, three aces and one block.
