Peele To Play In MLB Draft League

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.- Former Savannah State University pitcher Enrico Peele has been signed to an Major League Baseball Draft League contract and will suit up for the Williamsport CrossCutters.

The MLB Draft League is the professional developmental league run on behalf of Major League Baseball for players who have exhausted their college eligibility. It is a six-team baseball league with locations in Frederick (MD), Trenton (NJ), Williamsport (PA), State College (PA), Morgantown (WV), and Mahoning Valley (OH). Teams play 50 games starting on July 7th and concluding on September 2nd.

Peele played for Savannah State from 2019-2023 and pitched in 49 games for the Tigers, including 29 starts. In 189.1 innings, he struck out 152 batters while having a 3.52 ERA with 25 wins and only six losses. As a senior, he recorded 63.1 innings pitched with a 10-1 record and 57 strikeouts in 11 appearances.
 
During the 2023 season, SSU's right-handed ace, posted a 12-2 win/loss record with a 2.96 earned run average this season. In 76 innings pitched, he surrendered 71 hits, 30 runs, 25 earned runs, 29 walks and three home runs while striking out 66 batters.
 
The red-shirt senior from Lehigh Acres, Florida was named the 2023 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Starting Pitcher of the Year, All-SIAC First Team, the Black College Nines' Small School Elite Team as a First Team Pitcher, the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-South Region Second Team, American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings NCAA Division II South All-Region Second Team and was selected to play in the 2023 HBCU All-Star Game
