Enrico Peele, Jaden Oden Named SIAC Pitcher, Player Of The Week

ATLANTA, Ga.– For the second time this season, Savannah State baseball swept the weekly Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Baseball Player of the Week awards.
 
Right fielder Jaden Oden was named the SIAC Player of the Week for the second time this season. Enrico Peele was named the SIAC Pitcher of the Week, also his second award this season. Both had outstanding performances in Savannah State's three-game sweep of Tuskegee this past weekend.
 
The two honors mark the sixth and seventh weekly SIAC awards for the 2023 Savanah State baseball squad. Peele earned the same award on March 20 of this year while Oden picked up his first career SIAC weekly award on March 27.
 
Oden slashed 1.000/.500/.500 over three games this weekend, putting up six hits, seven runs, six RBI, batting .600 overall. He stole three basses and registered six putouts as well.
 
Savannah State right-hander Enrico Peele pitched the Tigers to a 5-0 shutout of Tuskegee on Friday in game two of a doubleheader.
 
Peele picked up his eighth win on the mound after a full 7.0 innings of work. He allowed no runs on five hits with no walks and four strikeouts. Peele leads the SIAC in victories this season and has a 2.42 ERA after 44.2 innings pitched.
 
Savannah State, 21-8, 17-6 SIAC, are currently in second place in the conference standings, trailing only Albany State.
 
The Tigers head on the road this weekend for a three-game SIAC series against LeMoyne-Owen College in Memphis, Tennessee.
