Tigers Drop Third Straight; Fall To Albany State

ALBANY, Ga.– Savannah State men's basketball dropped their third straight game on Saturday, falling to Albany State 51-53.
 
The Tigers' record dropped to 15-9 overall and 13-7 in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) action.
 
At the half, Savannah State led Albany State 29-24.  They extended that lead with good field goals from Eleik Bowles and Ayjay Plain for a 32-24 lead two minutes into the second half.
 
But Albany State fired back with an 8-0 run including two good three-pointers to tie the game. Bowles then hit a jump shot in the paint and Plain followed that with a good jump shot in the paint to break the tie.
 
Following a media timeout, the game tied at 36, Albany State opened a 6-0 run that was busted by a good field goal from Bowles and another from Andrew Okorodudu. The back-and-forth battle continued down the stretch.
 
Albany State's Malik Parker broke a stalemate at the 3:58 mark with a free throw and teammate Maurice Dickson hit a jump shot to put the home team up by three. With 1:13 to play, Okorodudu sank a turnaround jumper to make it a one point game.
 
With time ticking away, Parker drained two good free-throws and Bowles missed a three-point attempt with seconds left. Parker hit a field goal with two seconds on the clock to seal up the two-point win for Albany State.
 
Bowles led the Tigers with 16 points on the night while Okorodudu tacked on 13 and snagged eight rebounds.
