Tigers Close Regular Season With Loss

FORT VALLEY, Ga. – Savannah State men's basketball lost their fourth straight game on Tuesday, falling to Fort Valley State 43-62.

The Tigers finish the regular season 15-10 overall and 13-8 in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) play. They are ranked No. 2 in the SIAC East Division behind Morehouse College.

Savannah State jumped out to a four-point lead early, but that would be the only time the Tigers would lead.

Za'Khari Cobb opened the scoring for the Tigers getting a putback layup and Eleik Bowles scored a midrange jumper off a Fort Valley State missed three-pointer to get things going.

Fort Valley State jumped ahead by two after a Myson Lowe three-pointer and would go on an 8-point run to end the half.

The second half was more of the same. Fort Valley State would finish off the Tigers with a 44% clip from the field.

Ayjay Plain and Andrew Okorodudu were the leading scorers for the Tigers, each scoring 10 points.

In the rebound department, Plain, Okorodudu, and Elavian Bowles combined for 15 of the Tigers' 36 rebounds.

The 2023 SIAC Basketball Tournament hosted by Savannah State is set to begin this Saturday in Tiger Arena. Tickets are now on sale at thesiac.com.
