Tigers Fall To Morehouse

ATLANTA, Ga. – Savannah State men's basketball came up just short in the final minutes against Morehouse on Saturday, falling 60-63.
 
With 4:53 to play, following a back-and-forth game, Savannah State's Cameron Edmonds hit a jump shot to lift the Tigers to a 54-52 lead.
 
But Morehouse roared back with a good free throw and a three-pointer for a 58-54 lead. They would extend that lead to six points over the next minute.
 
With 1:36 ticking away, Elavian Bowles hit two good free-throws and then repeated it with 22 seconds to play, cutting Morehouse's lead to 62-60.
 
The Tigers weren't able to get a final shot off, as Morehouse's Robert Dix sank a good free-throw for the final three-point win.
 
Elavian Bowles led Savannah State with 22 points on the night, a season high for the senior. Ayjay Plain sank 12 for SSU in the loss. The Tigers shot a dismal 33.8% from the field and 21.7% from deep.
 
Savannah State dropped to 9-5 overall and 7-3 in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) action. They return to the court, Monday, Jan. 16 at Clark Atlanta.
