Lady Tigers Split Crossover Dual

ALBANY, Ga. –  In the first look at teams from the West Division of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), Savannah State volleyball split a double-header against Miles College and Tuskegee on Saturday.
 
The mini-crossover was hosted by SIAC East Division team Albany State, who Savannah State hosts on Tuesday night in Tiger Arena. Savannah State will play each team from the East Division twice and each team from the West Division once during the regular season, en-route to the SIAC Championship in November.
 
In the first game on Saturday, against Miles, Savannah State came out firing with a 25-16 win in the first set. Miles took the second set 25-19. The Lady Tigers took set three, 25-22 and Miles won the fourth 25-23, forcing a fifth set. The close match ended with a 15-9 Miles win in the fifth.
 
Destinee Langston had 15 kills and 15 digs in the loss. Jasmine Nettles recorded 13 kills and 13 digs while Allena Norton finished with 12 kills.
 
Savannah State made quick work of Tuskegee in game two of the day with a 3-0 win, beating the Golden Tigers 25-19, 25-9 and 25-19. Norton led the Lady Tigers with six kills. Nettles and Langston each had five kills in the win.
 
Savannah State improved to 2-6 overall and 2-2 in SIAC action.
 
Following their home game on Tuesday, they travel to Cartersville, Georgia for the 2022 SIAC Crossover where they will play five matches in two days against SIAC West Division teams Lane College and Central State on Friday, and Kentucky State, Spring Hill and LeMoyne-Owen College on Saturday.
