SAVANNAH, Ga. – Both Savannah State basketball teams are going to the dance.

On Sunday night, Savannah State women's basketball earned the No. 8 seed in the South Region and will play No. 1 seed Union on March 11 in Jackson, Tennessee in the opening round of the 2022 NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Championship Tournament.

The men's team received an automatic qualifier after winning the 2022 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Championship on Saturday.

Savannah State will be the No. 8 seed out of the NCAA South Region, facing off against No. 1 seeded Nova Southeastern on March 12 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in the opening round of the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship Tournament.

The No. 12 Lady Tigers, 27-2, are one of the best teams in program history, setting several school records en-route to an SIAC East Division Championship this season. Their only two losses of the season were against Benedict College—who were seeded No. 6 out the South Region after winning the 2022 SIAC Championship.

The Tigers, 15-13, shocked the entire conference with an incredible 4-0 run in the 2022 SIAC Championship Tournament that resulted in a rout of Benedict College on Saturday in the title game.
