Henry Tome Named SIAC Special Teams Player Of The Week

Atlanta, Ga. – Savannah State kicker and punter Henry Tome was named the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Special Teams Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday evening.
 
Tome helped Savannah State to a 44-38 win over Lane on Saturday, punting six times for a total of 225 yards, averaging 37.5 yards a punt with two inside the 20-yard line. His longest was a 58-yarder.
 
Tome also nailed a 34-yard field goal in the end of the second quarter to tie the game at 24 into the half. He averaged 56.6 yards on seven kickoffs. Tome is ranked No. 6 in the SIAC in punting this season.
 
Savannah State's season finale win against Lane College concluded their 2022 campaign with 5-5 overall record and a 3-4 conference mark.
 
This is the third player of the week award for the 2022 Tigers. Jadon Adams was named the SIAC Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 9 and Tavare Brewton was named the Newcomer of the Week on Sept. 26.
 
Fort Valley State's Emanuel Wilson was named this week's SIAC Offensive Player of the Week while Central State's Chazz Hunter earned Defensive Player of the Week accolades and Benedict Reginald Harden was named Newcomer of the Week.
