Lady Tigers Rally To Defeat Lane

EMERSON, Ga. – The Savannah State's women's volleyball team earned their second Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) win with a huge comeback against Lane College in a five-set match that opened the 2021 SIAC Crossover Tournament.

The Lady Tigers battled the Lady Dragons in the first set with Lane taking an early 4-0 lead. The Lady Tigers fought back and were able to take a 10-7 lead, until Lane began to gain momentum, that led to a 25-20 win in set one and would carry over into the second set.

Lane pushed out to a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-18 win over the Lady Tigers in the second set. 

Savannah State had perseverance, however, and in the third set, the Lady Tigers fought back ferociously, sealing up a 25-18 set win. In the fourth set, the Lady Tigers dominated, winning 25-14 and tying up the match at two sets apiece.

Savannah State and Lane College battled in the fifth set. In the final points, Destinee Langston, Imani Williamson registered kills to lift SSU to a 14-11 lead. Senior Jedaiah Daniels secured the 15-11 set win on a service ace.

Imani Cook led the Lady Tigers with 10 kills. Jeilynn Brown finished with four service aces and 16 digs. Daniels also registered four service aces' and led on defense with three blocks.
