Women's Tennis By Ta'Kyla Austin

Lady Tigers Down USC Sumter, 4-3

Savannah, Ga.– Saturday afternoon, the Savannah State Lady Tigers collected their first win of the season, beating the USC Sumter Lady Fire Ants 4-3 on the Tiger Tennis Courts.
 
In singles action, Savannah State junior Venus Ubiebi defeated Alex Romero in the first position in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3, while sophomore Bria Bembery defeated Madelyn Hines in the third position 6-3, 6-4. Caitlyn Schutlz fell to Emily Anne Beasley in the second court and Cameron Jackson defeated Maiya Broughton in the fourth court.
 
The Lady Tigers fell short in the doubles matches.  Ubiebi and Schultz dropped a close 4-6 loss to Beasley and Romero. Jackson and Hines beat Bembery and Sarah Joachim 6-1 in the second court of double's action.
 
Up next, the Lady Tigers take on Georgia College on Friday, March 12 at 1 p.m.
