Track & Field Tigers Set Personal Records At Weems Baskin Relays

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Savannah State men's and women's track & field teams continued the spring season at the Weems Baskin Relays.

Several Tigers and Lady Tigers set new personal best records in the event.

On the track, for the men, Joseph Bell ran an 11.27 in the finals of the 100m dash, setting a new personal college best. Just behind Bell, in the same event, were teammates Tracey White (11.43) and Anthony Johnson (11.46).

Bell also set a new personal best in the 200m finals with a time of 22.64. Jordan Davis was just behind with a 23.21. Andre Valcin also ran a 50.10 in the 400m finals

Freshman Camron McClendon set a new long-distance personal best with an 11^th place finish in the 1500m run and a time of 4:24.67.

Darryl Wiltz recorded a personal best time of 14.60 in the 110 meter hurdles, finishing in seventh place. Wiltz came within milliseconds of his personal best in the 400m hurdles, finishing in 16^th place with a 58.70—just shy of his 58.19 PR.

Solomon Mitchell had a strong outing in jumps. He set a new personal best of 12.67 in the triple jump, finishing 15^th. In the long jumps, he recorded a 6.05m for a 23^rd place finish.

For the Lady Tigers, freshman Artexis Drake recorded a new personal best in the 200m final, running a 25.96. Ravyn Cystrunk was just behind her, finishing with a 26.26. Drake ran 59.41 in the 400m finals to finish 22^nd. Cystrunk ran a 12.93 in the 100m finals as well.

In jumps, Sadrea Mabry finished third in the long jump event with a personal best 5.68m effort. Toni Pellington finished 13^th in the same event with a 4.98m leap. Pellington edged close to her personal best in the high jump. She finished in 7^th place with a 1.50m effort—just under her best mark of 1.58m.

The relay team of Drake, Cystrunk, Kayla Chance and Da'Aliyah Johnson finished in seventh place in the 4x300m relay with a time of 2:54.97.

The Savannah State outdoor track and field teams will close out the spring season on April 10 at the Gamecock Invite in Columbia, S.C.
