Lady Tigers Make Quick Work Of Allen University

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Into the final stretch of the season, every win is key for Savannah State volleyball.
 
On Friday, the Lady Tigers made quick work of Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) provisional team Allen University in their penultimate home game of the season, sweeping the Yellow Jackets 3-0 in a non-conference match. Savannah State improved to 9-11 overall with the win.
 
Allen managed only 10 points in the opening set as Savannah State's powerful offensive effort, led by the seniors, was too hard to handle for the Yellow Jackets. The second set mirrored the first, as the Lady Tigers pushed out to a quick 2-0 lead with a 25-7 win.
 
In the final set, Allen managed a small rally, cutting into Savannah State's early lead mid-way through the set. But Savannah State held the Yellow Jackets at bay down the stretch behind kills from Jeilynn Brown and Jedaiah Daniels that handed the Lady Tigers a 25-16 win and the 3-0 sweep.
 
Brown and Imani Cook led Savannah State with 10 kills each. Daniels racked up 8 in the win and 3 blocks.  Cook led in blocks with 4 while Libero Kloe Ludy led in digs with 26. Caylen Samuel recorded a season-high 5 service aces in the win.
 
The Lady Tigers open the final stretch of three games on Non. 7 with an SIAC road match against Fort Valley State. A win will guarantee them a trip to the SIAC Championship on Nov. 15. Savannah State faces Clark Atlanta on the road Nov. 9 before returning home for their final game on Nov. 12 against Albany State.
