Atlanta, Ga. – After earning their second win of the season, a 21-14 victory over Benedict College in the Augusta Classic, and the first win against a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) opponent, SSU will look to continue their win streak this week against SIAC foe Morehouse College.

This will be the 30th meeting of the two teams. Historically, Morehouse has a 15-14 lead over SSU in a combined 29 meetings. The last time SSU play at BT Harvey Stadium was in 1997. They beat Morehouse 3-0 behind a 24-yard field goal from Abudul Rashad. The game was plagued with driving rain.

Morehouse enters the contest 1-2 on the season after a 30-35 loss to Alabama A&M, a 26-20 win over Edward Waters and a 21-45 loss to Miles College. SSU lost their opening game of the season 22-23 to Florida Tech, but bounced back with a record-setting 60-21 win over Virginia University of Lynchburg and a 21-14 win over Benedict College.

Chris Smith earned a starting role this week. In a 21-14 win over Benedict College last week, Smith recorded a pick six and 3 solo tackles. The early interception set the tone for the SSU defense, a key in the Tigers' win.
THE QUINN FILE
SSU head coach
Shawn Quinn is in his first year as head coach of the Tigers but the Chicago native has made his rounds on the collegiate level having coached at nine other programs in addition to SSU. Those programs include The Citadel, Tennessee Tech, Western Carolina, Charleston Southern, Northwestern State, Georgia Southern, Louisiana Lafayette, Tennessee and Louisiana State.

The SSU roster is made up of players from nine states, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Virginia, New York, Texas, Ohio, Alabama and Nevada, as well as the Bahamas

After spending the past 19 years in Division I, the Tiger athletic program is now back in Division II and the Southern Intercollegiate Conference (SIAC).
