Abbkar Qualifies For Track Nationals

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- Savannah State sprinter Abbas Abbkar has qualified for the track & field nationals with his quarterfinals performance at the 2019 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field East Preliminaries.

Running in the first heat of the men's 800m race, Abbkar finished third with a time of 1:49.70.

Abbkar finished behind Myles Marshall of Harvard and Dejon Devroe of Mississippi State who posted times of 1:48.23 and 1:49.08 respectively.

The East Preliminaries were held at Hodges Stadium on the campus of North Florida.

 The top three participants in each heat plus the next three best times advance to the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships which will be held June 5-8 in Austin , Texas.

Abbkar, a junior from Clarkston, Georgia, was clocked at 1:50.21 in the first round of the East Preliminaries.

Morgan Ellis-Foster participated in the men's 400m hurdles.

Ellis-Foster finished eighth in the second head in the quarterfinals with a time of 56.77 and failed to qualify for the nationals.

The senior from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania was fourth in his opening round heat, posting a time of 51.2
